Octave is growing quickly and working on some of the most interesting digital and data projects in Aotearoa. Work that will impact Kiwis and make them better off!

This role requires a high degree of intuition, attentiveness and top-notch communication skills.  You will act as the conduit between our leadership team (who need business insights), your project teams (who need to understand the road ahead) and our clients (the needs of whom vary widely).  

There are times when difficult decisions need to be made and you'll play a key part in helping our leadership team make decisions.  You'll own the metrics underpinning each project and provide insights and direction to ensure we exceed expectations.

You will ensure that every team member knows what they are responsible for and the horizon coming up. In this endeavour, honesty and transparency with your teams will make all the difference.

Finally, as you work directly with our clients, you will be one of Octave’s “ears to the ground”.  You’re can spot impending challenges and opportunities, and respond accordingly.  We deeply value the relationships we have with our clients and this mixture of prudence and proactivity will help us cement and enhance those relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and strengthen relationships with our clients
  • Develop detailed project plans, proposals and pitch documents
  • Ensure all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Run risk and change management to mitigate project risks
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Delegate project tasks to the team working on the project based on team members' individual strengths, skill sets and experience levels
  • Continually develop leadership skills and attend conferences and training as required

Key working relationships

  • Your key point of contact is the Client Director. You'll also work closely with the Creative and Technical Director, and our development and design teams on projects.
  • You will  work directly with clients, leading project work.

Experience & Qualifications

  • At least 5 years experience working as a Project Manager or Account Manager within a Digital Agency or comparable organisation.
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in an agile project environment.
  • An eye for good design and user experience.
  • A great track record of delivery on complex projects
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent.
